N.B. The 2024 mating season is over and the ambiance returns to the anual cicadas, etc., until 2041. Several factors influenced the intensity of male chirping. The total population of cicadas peaked in mid-June. Activity increased with higher daily temperatures and rising sun, while precipitation and/or cooler air brought about a decrease or absence of chirping.
The 2024 Brood peaked at 90db! Sound samples are found below.
